The Gift of Ministry

I want to express how blessed I am to be in ministry, full-time, and paid for it!

I cherish the moments I have with people in hospitals and nursing homes. To know that through Christ, I can offer a word of encouragement, or a prayer for healing, a reaffirmation of hope, or a comforting presence is a great privelage.

It is such a gift that I can get away from everything during my work-day and spend focussed time in prayer and meditation. In what other job is an employee encouraged to spend an hour in prayer?

I don't need to take time out of work in order to study God's word and ways to help apply it to mine and other peoples' lives. That is my work.

Through Christ's empowerment, I can dream and plan and organize ways for God's kingdom to be strengthened in Spirit and in Word. I can't wait to see what God has in store for his people!

Of course there are frustrating aspectives of ministry. Welcome to the realm of humanity. But, "our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all." (2 Cor 4:17)

May God be glorified through what he has entrusted to me, the gift of ministry.
